It wasn't until my senior year in college that I learned something very important: photograph everything. I was working on a year long documentary that year and my professor warned me to not hesitate, to not worry that I would be wasting film. She said if you hesitate you'll miss it. Just burn through your film as if you had an endless supply. That surely was intimidating because (a) I didn't have an endless supply of film and (b) what if a whole roll is wasted? Well that is the risk you take in the hopes that you'll have at least one good shot on that roll. Needless to say that my senior art show at the end of the year was a huge success and it was all because of those wise words from my professor.
I have carried that with me ever since and so the work that you find in my store covers many subjects, many themes and speaks many different things to many different people.
And I love making something new with the old. I chose the shop name WorkingTitle because while some of it is past work gong as far back as high-school and college there is a lot of work in there that is current and new. I also believe that whether it is old or new, it is always evolving. I can create something new with old. I can re-vive the old and highlight the new. I never forget the tons of film that I shot in high-school, college and even after those educational journeys. I view my work as timeless.
A part of this shop name is also in honor of my parents (3940) because without their support, I would not be the artist that I am today. 1939 is the year my father was born and 1940 is the year my mother was born. I owe everything to them.
I know, well I hope, that you will find something in my shop that speaks to you and that you love. While, my growth has been slow I am ready to up the ante and bring my work into many more homes. To this point, it is a great honor to know that my work is being enjoyed in homes already!
